For Sale By Owner: Tips for Successfully Selling Your Home Without a Real Estate Agent

As a for sale by owner, you can expect to handle all aspects of selling your home on your own, including pricing, listing, showing, negotiating, and closing the sale. You may also need to invest time and money in marketing your home to potential buyers. However, you can potentially save on real estate agent commissions by selling on your own. It’s important to do your research and be prepared for the process.

**First and foremost, I recommend at least consulting and hiring an attorney to help you through the sales and closing process.**

Selling your home without a real estate agent can save you money on commission fees, but it requires extra effort and organization. In this blog post, we’ll go over some tips to help you successfully sell your home on your own.

1) Set a Realistic Price

Research the market value of your home and price it accordingly. It’s also important to consider any repairs or upgrades that may affect the price.

2) Market Your Home

Use online listings, social media, and yard signs to market your home. Take high-quality photos and write an appealing description to attract potential buyers.

3) Stage Your Home

Make your home look its best by decluttering, cleaning, and staging. Highlight the best features of your home and make it easy for potential buyers to envision themselves living there.

4) Handle Showings

Be prepared to show your home to potential buyers. Set up a schedule and be available to answer any questions. Consider hiring a professional photographer or videographer to create a virtual tour of your home.

5) Negotiate and Close the Sale

Be prepared to negotiate with potential buyers and be open to different offers. Once you’ve accepted an offer, work with a real estate attorney to handle the closing process.

Selling your home on your own can be challenging, but it’s possible with the right preparation and effort. If you need help or have any questions, feel free to contact me as a real estate agent. I’m happy to assist you if the process gets too overwhelming.

I will leave you with this, according to the National Association of Realtors:

FSBOs accounted for 10% of home sales in 2021. The typical FSBO home sold for $225,000 compared to $330,000 for agent-assisted home sales. This is a $105,000 difference!
